Worship Under the Word
Text: Hebrews 8:1–13

Sermon Summary
What if worship is not something we initiate on earth, but something we are brought into from heaven?
Hebrews 8 redirects our understanding of worship away from human effort, emotional readiness, or sacred space, and anchors it instead in the present, heavenly ministry of Jesus Christ. Worship does not begin with what we do, but with where Christ is.
Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father. He is not inactive. He is presently ministering, mediating, and leading His people in worship from the true sanctuary in heaven. Because of this, the church does not gather to summon God’s presence, create a moment, or close a perceived distance between heaven and earth. The church gathers because God has already spoken, access has already been secured, and Christ already stands for His people.
This sermon unfolds how worship is shaped by God’s Word, ordered according to a heavenly pattern, governed by the New Covenant, and oriented toward the age to come. Worship is dialogical by nature. God speaks first, and His people respond in faith and gratitude.
